Bottas aiming for a podium at Interlagos

Finnish Formula One driver Valtteri Bottas had a good qualifying session in Interlagos today, the Williams driver finished fourth behind Vettel, Hamilton and Rosberg respectively.

The young driver was happy with his successful qualifying, but he will start seventh on the grid as a result of a red flag infringement.

Bottas said that ‘it was a good qualifying session, it’s obviously a shame I’ll be starting three spots back, but I enjoyed it.’

He went on to say that his ‘car was getting better and better towards the end of the session.’

The teammate of Felipe Massa said that he was ‘comfortable’ and that he managed to get ‘everything out of’ the car.

The Finn will start tomorrow’s race alongside Massa, who is at his home Grand Prix, but will also be behind his Finnish friend Kimi Raikkonen.

Bottas continued to say ‘I think we can do a lot of good things from 7th and 8th on the grid. It’s a long race and the pace seems to be quite good, so we need to target a place on the podium and I think that’s possible.’

The race could end up being won on strategy, due to the uncertain weather conditions and tyre degradation.

Bottas has made an inference that his Williams’ team may choose different strategies for both drivers.

He also mentioned that ‘a lot of different things can be done because it’s not guaranteed a two or three stop, it really depends how hard you’re pushing and how your car is behaving on its tyres. So hopefully we’ll try to do something special.’
