This weekend, as I’m sure you’re all aware, was very wet and windy. In the midst of a drenched weekend and postponed/cancelled sessions was the American Grand Prix. The race pushed drivers as they cautiously pursued points. However, in my opinion, no one put on a chase like Max Verstappen.

It seems I’m writing Max’s name regularly when it comes to my star driver. However, he cannot be denied of the title. The 18-year-old handled the somewhat torrential conditions across the weekend with skill and precision.

Succeeding in staying on track was something to be proud of in itself. Doing this in a mid-field with a fourth place finish? That’s worth recognition! Max finished in his highest position of the season. It seems he was in his element as older, more experienced drivers made errors throughout the entire race. For a few laps, Vertsappen held off Vettel as he drove in third place. I dared to think he could finish on the podium. Not seconds after this thought had crossed my mind Vettel passed Verstappen, pushing him back into fourth, still an incredible finish.

With this degree of success and maturity it’s uncertain how far Max can go. Before now I was sure he relied on his overtaking but it seems the youngster can drive defensively too! Will his development of talents ever end?
Congratulations on a stellar drive and a fourth place finish, Max! I look forward to your first podium.
