Bottas rues decision to pit for slick tyres

Valtteri Bottas has spoken of his disappointment at being forced to retire from the United States Grand Prix.

Bottas early in the race after a technical failure ended his race. He had already sustained damage to his front wing following an incident on the first lap.

Bottas expressed his disappointment that both him and his teammate, Felipe Massa, had to retire.

“It’s just not my day. I think that really sums it up. Two technical failures in the same day and it was the suspension failure that ended my race.”

Bottas also claimed responsibility for choosing to change onto slick tyres, a move which he admits wasn’t the right call.

“We tried the slicks, which was guided by me, I thought it could be possible. But it was the wrong call and we lost a lot of time there.”

Bottas is currently fifth in the drivers championship, and will hope to have a significantly improved performance in Mexico on November 1st.
