Simona de Silvestro’s Beijing ePrix was brought to a premature end following contact with Antonio Felix da Costa.
The Swiss driver qualified 13th on the grid (just behind teammate Robin Frijns), but ended the race in the wall at Turn 2 on the opening laps following contact with Antonio Felix da Costa.
Co-Team Principal of Andretti Formula E Team, Roger Griffiths said: “Simona was unlucky because at the beginning of the race she was hit from behind by Felix da Costa and ended her race in the wall.”
Whilst a frustrated de Silvestro had this to say after the race: “I got hit in the opening laps of the race which is really annoying as I didn’t get a full run.”
It was a better day for her teammate, Robin Frijns, who rounded out the top ten with a championship point on his Formula E debut after Daniel Abt received a 10-second time penalty after the race for an unsafe release.
