Despite being on and off the calendar more than a lightbulb, the United States Grand Prix has seen some fantastic races over its 65-year history. In a slight tweak to our usual Classic format, we are going to look back through America’s most famous F1 moments.
We have chosen five Grand Prix from the huge variety available, but before we start why not take a look at our notable mentions:
1983 United States Grand Prix West
John Watson and Niki Lauda stormed through the field from 22nd and 23rd on the grid to take a McLaren one-two in a dramatic race at Long Beach after struggling in qualifying.
2012 United States Grand Prix (Pictured)
The Circuit of the Americas made its début and provided a thrilling race. Mark Webber retired early on with an alternator failure, before Lewis Hamilton hunted down Sebastian Vettel and passed him in the closing stages after the German was held up by the backmarkers. Red Bull secured their third constructors championship.
