Haas confirms Grosjean for 2016

Newly-formed American team Haas F1 has confirmed Romain Grosjean will drive for the team in their debut season in 2016.

The team has confirmed this via an announcement video on their official website at 1600 BST.

Grosjean leaves Lotus after spending four seasons with the Enstone-based team. On the whole, Grosjean has enjoyed a successful spell at the team, in particular, 2013, where he finished seventh in the drivers’ championship – scoring six podium finishes.

In the terms of Grosjean’s teammate, Haas had been linked with Jean-Eric Vergne and American driver Alexander Rossi, who is currently racing for Manor Marussia. More likely though, Ferrari reserve and test driver is likely to take the second seat.

The newly-formed American team will run Ferrari power units in 2016 and have strong links with the Italian team to assist them with the technical side.

Romain Grosjean move to Haas is intriguing, it could be a good move as he is now a part of the ‘Ferrari family’ and thus will be eyeing the second Ferrari seat alongside Sebastian Vettel for the 2017 season.
