Singapore Result “Not bad” – Bottas

Valtteri Bottas was satisfied with Williams’ performance at the Singapore Grand Prix.

He told Sky Sports: “Being fifth on probably the most difficult circuit for the rest of the season is not bad.”

Bottas started seventh but gained a place following Lewis Hamilton’s retirement. Pit stops also allowed the Fin to pass Red Bull’s Daniil Kvyat. He acknowledged the team’s effort following a series of slow stops in past races.

“As a team, we’ve managed to improve the pit stops – they were very good – so the guys did well. We just need to carry on like this.”

It wasn’t a totally trouble free race for Williams. Felipe Massa retired with a gearbox problem, losing valuable points for both himself and the team. As a result, Bottas is now four points ahead of the Brazilian in fifth place in the drivers’ championship. Red Bull’s strong race means that they have closed the gap in the constructors’ to the Grove-based outfit, who retain third place on 198 points.
