“Tomorrow is going to be hard” – Hamilton

World Championship leader Lewis Hamilton has admitted that tomorrow’s Singapore Grand Prix “is going to be hard” following his fifth place in qualifying.

For the first time in the hybrid era, a non-Mercedes powered car took pole position. Even worse for the Silver Arrows, Mercedes could do no better than the third row after both cars struggled with their tyres.

“It is what it is today; I enjoyed it out there but we just didn’t have the pace.”

“We don’t know the reason why we weren’t as quick today, we obviously didn’t get the tyres switched on like everybody else did, but we need to look into it.”

Both Red Bulls and Ferraris were ahead of the Mercedes over the one lap, with practice seemingly showing that they were quicker in race runs too. Despite acknowledging that the race will not be easy, Hamilton is not going to accept defeat just yet.

“Tomorrow is going to be hard; it’s difficult to overtake but I’m still excited, I’ll be pushing hard and will do everything I can to make up positions.”

We will find out if he is able to do so tomorrow.
