Bottas pleased with Williams’ qualifying

Valtteri Bottas was pleased with Williams’ qualifying performance, despite neither car making it into the top five.

The Fin will start in seventh place tomorrow, with his teammate Felipe Massa in ninth. He insists, though, that there was not much more he could give.

“I’m pleased with my lap, I think I got everything I could from the car so it’s a good result”.

The FW37, like its predecessor, is notoriously slippery in a straight line due to its low downforce configuration. Around a street circuit like Marina Bay, this can lead to an abysmal weekend. The team feared this would be the case once again after practice on Friday, but there may well be light at the end of the tunnel.

“Given Friday, it’s a good starting position for tomorrow. We always knew it was going to be challenging for us here and we improved from practice.”

“This is a race where anything can happen and we are going to be there so everything is still open.”
