Haas targets debut at first 2016 winter test

Formula One’s incoming team Haas targets to get its car its first track action in time for the first pre-season test next year.

Next season will see Haas F1 join the Formula One paddock and expand the grid to a total of 11 teams and with benefit from technical ties with Ferrari along with the experience of one of the Italian marque’s reserve drivers.

When speaking to AUTOSPORT, team boss Gunther Steiner says work on the 2016 Ferrari-powered chassis is “good” and is certain they will appear at the first test of winter testing.

“There are a few things a bit delayed. But when the calendar was changed, with the first race moving back into April, we could put a week extra on here or a week there.” Steiner commented.

“The factory in Banbury should be finished in four weeks and the machine pattern work for chassis will be done in the next two weeks.”

“The schedule is very tight, but it’s the same for everybody. Ferrari does not sign off its car off before March and we go with their schedule.

“In the end, we will get to the first test.”
