After fears that Lotus may not attend the Italian Grand Prix, Bailiffs have released the team’s cars and transport trucks and are on their way to Monza.
Bailiffs seized the vehicles after Lotus scored their first podium of the season at Spa as, former test driver, Charles Pic, reportedly demanded a settlement of over half-a-million pounds for being denied track time.
Lotus are currently operating with virtually no budget and are keen to be taken over by Renault. This would include reverting back to the heavily criticised Renault power unit but would ensure financial stability from the French car giant.
It was revealed recently that the F1 Group chief executive, Bernie Ecclestone, covered staff wages of the Enstone team’s 400 personnel in August.
“I thought that I should cover the wages of the people there to make sure they were alright and so that Lotus would at least get to Spa and, hopefully, to Italy,” he said.
Lotus drivers, Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado, will be hoping the low-downforce nature of the Monza circuit will allow their cars to challenge for successive podiums come Sunday.
