Drivers pay tribute to Bianchi

jules-bianchi-marussia-japon-suzuka-2014-06Yesterday Formula One drivers were united together in grief during the driver press conference. The world of Formula One is still shocked at the news that Jules Bianchi passed away last week, at just 25 years old, with such a promising career ahead of him. Earlier this week Formula One driver’s gathered together at the funeral of Jules Bianchi who was finally laid to rest in his hometown of Nice, in France.

Tributes

The F1 drivers took in it turns to share their own memories and personal tributes of the late Formula One driver, who crashed in Suzuka, at the Japanese Grand Prix in October 2014. Romain Grosjean started the discussion by reflecting on many memories shared with Bianchi over the years. Grosjean said “of course, this week our thoughts go with him but personally I will never forget that we race and we race for Jules as well”.

Felipe Massa said “He was an amazing boy and a fantastic driver”.

Sergio Perez who shared times with Bianchi at the Ferrari drivers academy said “You could see Jules was a very special driver but also a very special person that everyone seemed to like”.

Nico Hulkenberg, Bianchi’s team mate in 2012 said “we’ll all miss him”. Thoughts that were echoed around the F1 paddock as thoughts move to the free practice sessions later today, ahead of the 2015 Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday.
