Nico Hulkenberg has praised the VJM-08 B-Spec car after finishing 7th at its debut race.
“The start was sensational. I just rocketed, overtook 3 cars and found myself in P5, ahead of the Ferrari’s.”, he told BBC Sport.
“Then I was surprisingly able to keep them behind for a long time. They overtook us by strategy but you’re racing Ferrari’s which are honestly a lot more competitive than we are”
Hulkenberg finished just 15 seconds behind Valtteri Bottas in 5th place and his Force India teammate, Sergio Perez, ensured both cars scored points with 9th place.
“Overall, really good job from the team. The B-spec car is definitely a big success for us and has lifted our performance a lot.”
Asked about the race, the Le Mans winner said: “It was an entertaining race with plenty of things to look at”.
Force India are 5th in the constructors championship with 39 points, 8 more than Lotus who suffered a double retirement at Silverstone.
