Eric Boullier has downplayed expectation for McLaren to make big steps in F1, saying “We cannot expect to take a big step. Those days are gone” – speaking to motorsport.com
Driver, Fernando Alonso, said after the Bahrain GP that McLaren were on the verge of scoring, and hoped the team would make the steps for this to happen for his home race in Spain.
“Any step would be good,” said Boullier.
The Racing Director for the team added: “It’s more a case of gradual improvements in this modern Formula 1.”
McLaren have, for the first time in their history, no points after the first four races, but both drivers have narrowly missed out finishing 11th during the season.
