Toro Rosso could field yellow livery in future

markoScuderia Toro Rosso may sport a change of livery in upcoming Formula 1 season, should Renault step up their involvement within the team, according to Dr Helmut Marko.

Renault have recently been looking into the possibility of buying into a Formula 1 team, and are currently in talks with Sauber, Force India and Lotus, as well as Toro Rosso.

“If Renault believes it must represent itself differently for marketing reasons, then they are talking about either buying a team or having two cars in yellow,” Dr Marko told Speed Week.

As well as Toro Rosso, the Austrian has also stated that Red Bull Racing are open to a move by Renault to buy into the team.

“If it improves performance and facilitates cooperation, then yes. If Renault is happy with such a solution, then we are happy to talk to them. It is not just about the possibility of a sale, there is also the option to just give them (Renault) two cars in yellow.”

Renault last competed as a constructor in 2011, before withdrawing from the sport and handing over the team to Lotus. Since then, they have stayed within the sport as an engine supplier to Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Lotus before their switch to Mercedes power in 2015.
