McLaren have officially unveiled their 2015 car, which they hope can bring them back into winning contention.
After months of speculation over whether the reformed Honda partnership would inspire a 1980s style red and white colour scheme, or the possibility of a return to the orange livery of the 1960s, the team unveiled a silver, black and red livery with similarities to that of the late 2010s.
The new car, dubbed the ‘MP4-30’, will challenge for the 2015 world championship title at the hands of Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso, with Kevin Magnussen and Stoffel Vandoorne in reserve.
“Although our renewed alliance began again many months ago, the launch of the McLaren-Honda MP4-30 marks the start of a lengthy journey,” said McLaren Group CEO Ron Dennis.
“We’ve come a long way already and, although there’s a lot of work to do before we can expect to repeat the level of success we enjoyed together 25-or-so years ago, it’s already clear that there’s enormous synergy and potential in our partnership.
“I’m positive that, together, we’ll get to where we want to be: winning Grands Prix and eventually World Championships as McLaren-Honda.”
