McLaren have clocked the first miles with its Honda power unit they’ll be racing next season as they restart a successful partnership.
The team’s development car, dubbed the MP4-29H, got some running with test driver Oliver Turvey behind the wheel during a filming day at Silverstone this afternoon.
Honda released an image on social media of the car emerging out of the pits for its debut outing.
As per Formula 1 regulations, McLaren are restricted to covering a maximum of 100km however it is said to be enough to ensure that the Woking-based outfit can diagnose any initial troubles with the power unit.
Honda or McLaren are yet to decide whether they’ll be running the power unit at the final post-race test in Abu Dhabi succeeding the season finale at the Yas Marina circuit.
