In great excitement Lotus showed us their brand new nose idea yesterday. We all saw before that the twin Tusks concept was quite radical at the start of the year and only just was suitable for the 2014 regulations. Nevertheless Lotus showed their new nose on Twitter as they were preparing for FP1. Whereas their old design would pull air down to the lower section of the car, giving it slightly better stability to the rear. The only downside is that the front wing was not getting the air flow it need which resulted in lots of understeer for the E22.

Their new design is yet again controversial as its only just fitted into the 2014 regulations. It strangely will be used as a test bed for Lotus who will develop the basic principles of their new nose. This will not be legal in 2015 as it doesn’t feature the common “finger” extension on the front of the car. The biggest gain is that it’s more aero efficient by giving a better quality of airflow towards the rear wing and T-cam area.
