# Sergio Perez signs new Cadillac F1 deal until at least 2029

**Sergio Perez will remain with Cadillac until at least the end of 2029 after signing a new multi-year contract with the American team.**

The 36-year-old joined Cadillac for its debut [F1](https://readmotorsport.com/latest-f1-news/) season in 2026 after spending a year away from the grid following his departure from Red Bull.

His original deal was understood to run until the end of 2027, but [Cadillac has moved early to secure the six-time Grand Prix winner](https://x.com/F1/status/2115459790059319388?a=BZGDZxkh4RNQ19lSVk0&s=20) for another three seasons. The announcement comes ahead of this weekend’s Mexico City Grand Prix, where Perez will make his 300th Formula 1 start in front of his home crowd.

## Cadillac puts faith in Perez for long-term F1 project

Perez said extending his commitment felt like a “natural continuation” of a project he had believed in from the beginning. Cadillac has yet to score a point during its first F1 campaign, but Perez’s experience and technical feedback have been highly valued as the new team establishes itself.

Team chief executive Dan Towriss said securing Perez provided the “continuity and commitment” Cadillac needs as it attempts to make progress up the grid. The extension also ends any uncertainty over one side of Cadillac’s 2027 driver line-up, although the future of team-mate Valtteri Bottas remains less clear.

Perez will be 39 by the end of the 2029 season, with the new agreement potentially taking the Mexican towards the conclusion of a Formula 1 career which began with Sauber in 2011.
