# Oliver Bearman in frame for Ferrari move in 2028 as Hamilton decision looms

**Oliver Bearman is reportedly among Ferrari’s options for 2028 if a seat becomes available alongside Charles Leclerc.**

The 21-year-old remains part of the Ferrari Driver Academy while racing for Haas in [Formula 1](https://readmotorsport.com/latest-f1-news/), with a future move to Maranello long regarded as his ultimate target. Italian F1 journalist Giuliano Duchessa reports that Bearman is among the candidates Ferrari could consider for 2028, when Lewis Hamilton’s longer-term future could become a factor in the driver market.

Hamilton will race for Ferrari in 2027. His deal was officially announced as a multi-year agreement, with reports indicating it covers three seasons from 2025, although Ferrari have not publicly detailed all of its terms.

## Ferrari decision could shape Bearman future

The report claims Ferrari retains control over Bearman’s future until the end of 2027. If a Ferrari seat is not available for 2028, he could then be free to consider opportunities elsewhere. Bearman has already made clear that racing for Ferrari remains his ambition after making his F1 debut for the team at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

“My goal remains to be a Ferrari driver one day,” Bearman said earlier this year, while warning that he could not afford to spend “three, four, five years” waiting for an opportunity.

His immediate future remains with Haas. Team principal Ayao Komatsu said this week that the team’s intention is to keep Bearman for 2027, with only contractual details still to be finalised. If confirmed, he will partner [Rafael Câmara, who has signed a multi-year Haas deal to step up from Formula 2 in 2027](https://readmotorsport.com/).

Both drivers are members of the [Ferrari Driver Academy](https://www.ferrari.com/en-EN/fda), giving Ferrari two of its young prospects on the same grid next season. Leclerc has already signed a new multi-year Ferrari contract extending beyond 2028, while no decision has been announced over Hamilton’s future beyond next season.
