Porsche has appointed Maximilian Muller as its new GT3 project manager following a reversal of planned personnel cuts at the Weissach motorsport base.
The 38-year-old takes over external operations surrounding the 911 GT3 R programme after Sebastian Golz vacated the post in January 2026. Initially, Porsche chief executive Michael Leiters planned to eliminate the position entirely as part of a wider corporate reduction targeting 5,000 jobs by 2035, shrinking the Weissach facility from 6,000 to 4,000 staff.
Shielding Customer Racing Programmes
Instead of scrapping the role, the manufacturer chose to divide GT3 responsibilities to protect its operational structure. Muller now handles public-facing duties, team support, Balance of Performance negotiations and discussions with series promoters like the ADAC. He has already operated in this capacity during recent endurance classics at the Nurburgring and Spa-Francorchamps.
Technical vehicle development remains with Andreas Singer, who operates away from the spotlight. Singer continues the engineering legacy of his father, legendary Porsche aerodynamicist Norbert Singer.
A spokesperson confirmed the appointment to motorsport.com: “Maximilian Muller officially took over the function of Project Manager GT3 R at Porsche Motorsport at the end of February,”.
Both men were heavily involved in developing the 911 GT3 R and its Evo model, which was delivered to customer teams earlier this season.
