The Jack Miller WorldSBK move is official. The Australian will leave MotoGP at the end of the 2026 season to join Yamaha’s factory Pata squad in the World Superbike Championship for 2027 and 2028, taking the seat vacated by Xavi Vierge.
“I am really excited to announce that I’m heading over to WorldSBK together with Yamaha, extending our partnership together,” Miller said. “I have really enjoyed working with the brand these past few years in MotoGP and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to see what we can do on the R1.”
What the Jack Miller WorldSBK move gives Yamaha
Miller arrives in the production-based series after 15 seasons in the grand prix paddock, 12 of them in the premier class, with four wins and 23 podiums for Honda, Ducati and KTM. His exit was sealed when Pramac handed his ride to rookie Izan Guevara for 2027.
The 31-year-old sits 17th in this year’s standings on Yamaha’s new V4, but remains the manufacturer’s second-best rider behind Fabio Quartararo and was the leading Yamaha at both Silverstone and Aragon. He has also finished runner-up in the Suzuka 8 Hours in each of the past two seasons aboard the factory R1.
Yamaha Motor Europe road racing sporting manager Niccolo Canepa said the chance to sign him was “too good to miss”, adding that Miller’s grand prix background matters more than usual next year, with Michelin replacing Pirelli as WorldSBK’s tyre supplier.
“His Grand Prix experience, particularly his knowledge of Michelin tyres, will be extremely valuable for us,” Canepa told Crash.net. “He has already achieved strong results with the R1 at Suzuka, so we are excited to see what he can do on the WorldSBK-spec bike.”
Miller will partner Andrea Locatelli. His final MotoGP campaign resumes at Misano this weekend.
