VeeKay Milwaukee Podium Caps Juncos Hollinger’s Best Year

The VeeKay Milwaukee podium was the kind of drive that gets a small team noticed. Rinus VeeKay started the rain-suspended, two-part Race 1 at The Milwaukee Mile from 24th on the grid and finished third, passing Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin with four laps of the 250 remaining.

How the VeeKay Milwaukee podium came together

It was only the second podium in Juncos Hollinger Racing’s IndyCar history — and the second at this circuit, after Conor Daly came from 25th to third here in 2024. For the 25-year-old Dutchman it was a first rostrum since he finished runner-up at Toronto last year with Dale Coyne Racing.

“Podium baby! After three fourth place finishes this season, a podium feels incredible,” VeeKay said. “It was a bit of an interesting one having to restart a race a day later on used tyres. But it worked out really well. I think the strategy was really good, and the car was incredible with the cooler conditions here.”

Juncos Hollinger eye a best-ever finish

VeeKay then led 25 laps of Race 2 before taking seventh, a weekend that lifted him to a career-best eight top-10 finishes with one round still to run and returned him to 10th in the championship standings.

“What a weekend,” team principal Dave O’Neill said. “To come away with a podium is a fantastic result and I’m incredibly proud of everyone. Rinus was outstanding. Going from 24th to third in Race 1 was a tremendous drive.”

The headlines belonged elsewhere: Pato O’Ward swept both races, and Alex Palou clinched his fifth IndyCar title. But the #76 Chevrolet’s run matters to a team chasing its strongest season yet as the series heads to its finale at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Report via Motorsport.com.
