Toyota Names Five-Car WRC Rally Estonia Entry As Evans Defends Lead

Toyota Gazoo Racing will field all five of its full-season drivers — currently first to fifth in the world championship standings — at WRC Rally Estonia on July 17-19, with leader Elfyn Evans defending an 11-point advantage over Takamoto Katsuta.

The team confirmed its line-up in an official round-nine preview published on Friday, with deputy team principal Juha Kankkunen predicting “more of a flat-out fight” on Estonia’s fast gravel after the tyre-management grind of the Acropolis Rally Greece.

Evans and co-driver Scott Martin head the entry in the No.33 GR Yaris Rally1, and the Welshman revealed he contested a national rally in Estonia last week “to get used to the highest speeds once again” as he looks to convert his WRC lead into a first title.

Katsuta Set For 100th WRC Start At Rally Estonia As Ogier Returns

Katsuta, second in the standings, will reach the milestone of 100 WRC events in Tartu, while reigning champion Sébastien Ogier — third, 37 points off the lead and fresh from victory in Greece — tackles Estonian stages for the first time since 2021.

Oliver Solberg returns to the scene of last year’s sensational maiden win on his GR Yaris Rally1 debut, with Finland’s Sami Pajari completing the quintet.

The event runs to a compact new format, packing 301.8 competitive kilometres into just over 48 hours around Tartu before finishing with two passes of the 24.39km Kääriku test on Sunday — and with Rally Finland following just two weeks later, Toyota’s title rivals have little time to respond.
