# AlphaTauri shows off livery for 2023 F1 car in New York

AlphaTauri has revealed the livery for its 2023 Formula 1 car at a launch event in New York ahead of the new season.

The Faenza-based team slipped to ninth place in last year’s constructors’ championship as it struggled to consistently extract performance from its 2022 car.

On average, AlphaTauri was shown to have the seventh fastest car on the grid, but operational errors and on-track mistakes culminated in it ending the year with more than 100 points less than its 2021 total.

Having underperformed last year, Red Bull’s sister outfit is hoping to bounce back and be a major force among the F1’s midfield.

The AT04 sports a blue and white matte colour scheme that AlphaTauri has carried on its cars since rebranding from Toro Rosso in 2020 and features flashes of red to incorporate its new sponsor Orlen.

This year will see a change to its driver line-up following Pierre Gasly’s departure to Alpine, with 2021 Formula E champion Nyck de Vries taking the Frenchman’s place for his rookie campaign.

De Vries only entered the frame to replace Gasly after his unexpected one-off appearance for Williams at last season’s Italian Grand Prix, where he finished an impressive P9.

Yuki Tsuonda returns for a third season in AlphaTauri colours but is set for a make-or-break year following a difficult sophomore season that yielded just four points finishes.

AlphaTauri’s 2023 challenger is set for a shakedown run prior to its first proper foray out on-track in pre-season testing, which starts on February 23-25 in Bahrain.
