# Haas’ 2022 F1 car breaks cover on-track in Barcelona

Haas’ 2022 Formula 1 car has been handed its on-track debut as the team conducts a shakedown at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Having thrown all of its resources into designing the VF-22 after choosing to not develop its 2021 car, Haas is eyeing to leap up the grid under F1’s all-new technical regulations.

The American-owned outfit became the first team to release images of its 2022 challenger on February 4, but ultimately only opted to show renders at the time.

And with just two days until the first pre-season test gets underway in Barcelona, Haas gave the VF-22 its first run-out on Wednesday morning.

As Haas is completing a filming day, part of F1’s testing rules means it is restricted to running up to 100km.

While there are limitations on how much milage it can complete, the running allows Haas to check over any potential issues prior to its extended run-out in Barcelona on February 23-25.

Haas suffered its worst season in F1 since joining the grid in 2016 last year, finishing bottom of the constructors’ championship without scoring a point.

The team fields an unchanged driver line-up in the form of Mick Schumacher and Mikita Mazepin, and hopes its decision to put greater focus on the 2022 regulations will pay off.

As part of its technical partnership with Ferrari, that includes having a hub set up at the Italian team’s base in Maranello, Haas will continue to run the Scuderia’s power unit and car parts.
