# Aston Martin reveal 2022 car and livery

Aston Martin has become the first team to launch its actual 2022 Formula 1 car, unveiling a revised livery on the ARM22 at an event at its base in Gaydon.

The Silverstone-based outfit underwent a major rebrand last year as it transitioned from Racing Point to Aston Martin, and looked to build on its fourth place finish in the 2020 constructors’ championship.

But downforce cuts on the 2021 cars meant Aston Martin was hit hard by the rule tweaks, slipping to seventh in standings.

Aston managed to secure the services of four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, and the German’s experience proved valuable during a difficult year.

Vettel secured the team’s only podium of 2021 in Baku and finished second on the road at the Hungarian Grand Prix, only to be disqualified for a fuel irregularity.

Lance Stroll remains with the team for a fourth consecutive season and his sixth overall in F1, hoping to perform more consistently this year after an erratic 2021 campaign.

The AMR22 was presented in a tweaked colour scheme, retaining the iconic British racing green, while the pink elements of former sponsor BWT have been replaced with lime green.

The livery also includes the addition of new major sponsor Aramco, who’s logo will feature on the rear wing, airbox and front wing.

It marks the first real look at a 2022 car under the new technical regulations after Haas released rendered images and Red Bull used a showcar to unveil the RB18.

Behind the scenes there has been some changes to Aston Martin’s senior management, with the departure of long-time CEO and team principal Otmar Szafnauer.

The British car manufacturer has hired ex-BMW motorsport chief Mike Krack as his replacement, and is due to welcome new technical director Dan Fallows in April after agreeing a contract release with Red Bull.

Aston Martin will debut the AMR22 during a filming day at Silverstone on Friday before it enjoys a run-out in the first pre-season test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on February 23-25.
