Aston Martin has announced an extended partnership with Austrian water technology specialists BWT ahead of the launch if its 2021 Formula 1 next week.
BWT first sponsored the Silverstone-based team back in 2017 during its previous guise as Force India, which led to it adopting an all-pink livery.
Despite Force India going into administration midway through the 2018 season, BWT”s sponsorship was carried over when the team was renamed Racing Point.
Having been rebranded as Aston Martin for 2021, there had been question marks over BWT’s future involvement with the team, leading to speculation it was in talks to sponsor either Haas or Williams.
But on Wednesday, it was revealed the BWT brand will remain in F1 together with Aston Martin as it makes its return to the series some 60 years on from its last entry.
Aston Martin confirmed that while the car will sport a new colour scheme, “subtle BWT brand accents, as well as BWT brand logos, will remain a feature on the all-new livery”.
BWT CEO Andreas Weißenbacher said: “I am proud to continue supporting this wonderful team of people and to start a new chapter with Aston Martin’s return to Formula One.
“Having seen the team enjoy such a strong 2020 season, we believe the years ahead are full of great promise and we want to continue supporting this team’s journey towards the front of the grid.”
Aston Martin team principal Otmar Szafnauer added: “Our friends at BWT have been loyal supporters of this team and I am delighted they have chosen to be a partner of Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One™ Team.
“This is a strong and historic partnership entering an important new era, and we are all excited to see what we can achieve together.”
Aston Martin will unveil its 2021 challenger, the AMR21, on March 3 in the lead up to pre-season testing on March 12 in Bahrain.
Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel joins the team from Ferrari this year, partnering three-time podium finisher Lance Stroll.
