Sergio Perez has revealed he’s held clear-the-air talks with Racing Point after commenting the team was beginning to “hide things” from him ahead of his impending departure.

Perez will leave the Silverstone-based outfit at the end of 2020 following a seven-season stint, where he will be replaced by Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel.

On Thursday ahead of this weekend’s Russian Grand Prix, Perez said some members of the team had begun to conceal information from him, leading to him calling for greater transparency for the remaining eight races.

“Since the news came out, some people inside the team tend to hide things, which I don’t think is great,” Perez said, as quoted by Motorsport.com.

“I think at the moment we just have to be as transparent as possible to make sure we achieve our goals, and make sure that we score as many points as we possibly can.”

But on Friday morning, the Mexican posted on social media that he had spoken with Racing Point, and both were keen to move forwards and focus on seeing out the campaign in the best way possible.

“I have known this team for seven years and they are like family,” Perez wrote.

“I have spoken to the team and they accept my explanation. There’s no way after seven years we can finish in bad terms, the air is totally cleared.

“And we all move forwards now. We all want the same thing: to score as many points and be successful in our remaining races together.

“We will push and go for more podiums in this 8 final races together.”

Perez is yet to confirm his plans for next year, but has confirmed he is in discussions to remain on the Formula 1 grid in 2021.

The 30-year-old has been linked to both Ferrari-powered customer teams Haas and Alfa Romeo, with neither having confirmed their driver line-ups for 2021.
