McLaren has revealed the launch date for its 2020 car with the help of driver Lando Norris during a livestream to fans via the team’s YouTube channel.
In a three-minute clip, Norris is filmed showing viewers around the McLaren Technology Centre when he enters a meeting that is supposedly discussing details of the launch.
Once staff confirm to Norris the main topic of the meeting, the Briton lets slip that he has been informed by CEO Zak Brown that the team will unveil the MCL35 on February 13.
Following a period of hesitancy from those inside the meeting, the video camera is turned off. This fuels speculation that this was either a planned marketing stunt or Norris accidentally let slip of the date.
The British outfit shortly took to its social media channels and confirmed the official date, which will take place at its base in Woking.
Norris, who finished 11th in his rookie season in Formula 1, will once again partner Carlos Sainz as McLaren look to build on its fourth place finish from 2019.
