Maurizio Arrivabene is convinced Sebastian Vettel’s talent and determination will reward him with a fifth drivers’ championship at Ferrari “sooner or later”.

Vettel looks set to lose out on the 2018 crown to Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, with the Briton holding a 67-point advantage heading into the final four races of the season.

The German joined the Italian outfit in 2015 following his dominant period at Red Bull in which he won four successive drivers’ titles, but is yet to add to his tally since he arrived at Maranello.

Ferrari boss Arrivabene believes Vettel possesses very similar strengths to that of compatriot Michael Schumacher and backs him to replicate the seven-time world champions success.

“It takes talent and determination otherwise you do not go anywhere,” Arrivabene told La Repubblica.

“Michael Schumacher was like that and Sebastian Vettel is a lot like him as his four World titles won with Red Bull testifying to.

“When I hear him on the radio it’s like talking to Michael. I am sure that sooner or later he will bring the title back to Maranello.”

Ferrari’s recent form has received criticism for throwing away a golden opportunity to win a championship for the first time in over a decade. But in spite of this, Arrivabene says the pressure from the media has driven them harder through this difficult period.

“We do not talk about pressure because we do a particular job too and Ferrari is at the center of everything,” he added.

“In fact, we have to thank the press and the public that is pushing for a return to winning.”
