There will be a new team on the MotoGP grid next season, it was confirmed by Angel Nieto Ducati today.
The team will sell their grid spots to Sepang International Circuit for 2019.
A short statement released by Angel Nieto Ducati, the team said:
Angel Nieto Racing Team (ANRT) and Sepang International Circuit (SIC) in principle have an agreement by which, from the 2019 MotoGP season, SIC will take over the two MotoGP class entries of the ANRT. Mr Jorge Martínez Aspar will assume the position as the Sporting Advisor to this new MotoGP team.
The Sepang team will receive bikes from Yamaha, riding M1 machines for the next three years.
Franco Morbidelli is expected to move to the new team from the deeply flawed Marc VDS Honda, with the second rider spot as yet unfilled.
With Dani Pedrosa having been long-rumoured to take the vacancy, the 32-year-old is now expected to retire instead.
