Jorge Lorenzo wins second successive race in Catalunya
Jorge Lorenzo took victory at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya this afternoon, winning his second successive race on the Ducati.
The win comes on the week that the Three time MotoGP World Champion announced he would be moving to Repsol Honda next season, joining Marc Marquez at the Factory Honda team.
Marquez would finish in second place, in front of Valentino Rossi who crossed the line in third.
It was a real race of attrition this afternoon, with several riders falling down during the race. Andrea Dovizioso was the key faller, with the Italian’s Championship hopes practically over already.
Cal Crutchlow was the best of the independents in fourth, with Dani Pedrosa fifth. Maverick Vinales was sixth, with Johann Zarco seventh.
Danilo Petrucci was eighth, with Alvaro Bautista ninth. Andrea Iannone was tenth, faltering after a good start. Pol Espargaro, Scott Redding and Karel Abraham were the final finishers, with Franco Morbidelli finishing three laps behind.
The MotoGP riders will return in two weeks time for the Dutch TT at Assen.
