Valentino Rossi took pole for tomorrow’s Italian GP, with an expectant home crowd hoping the Italian can finally take another win at the Mugello circuit tomorrow.

The Italian, who has had a tough start to the season, took pole on home soil. A time of  1:46.203 was enough for Valentino, who will head the grid for tomorrow’s race.

Jorge Lorenzo, the man tied for the wins record at this track, will join Rossi on the front row, with Maverick Vinales graduating from Q1 to end Q2 in third, meaning he’ll round out the front row for tomorrow.

The second row will see Andrea Iannone start fourth, with Danilo Petrucci fifth and Marc Marquez behind him in sixth. Andrea Dovizioso will start seventh, not far behind his Spanish rival on the timesheets.

Cal Crutchlow will start eighth, with Johann Zarco ninth. Alex Rins makes his premier class debut at this circuit, after missing out last year through injury, and will start tenth for the race tomorrow.
