Di Grassi fastest as Piquet crashes again

Lucas di Grassi topped the times in the final free practice session for the Paris ePrix after a last minute flurry of times.

The 30-minute session was truncated slightly when the red flags were brought out after Nelson Piquet Jnr crashed for a second time this morning.

The Jaguar driver, who already severely damaged one car in the first free practice session, came out of the pits half way through FP2. He immediately jumped to second in the times before putting his car in the wall 10 minutes before the end of the session.

With three minutes on the clock, the track went green again and most of the field headed out to improve on their fastest times.

Jean-Eric Vergne was the first man to jump to the top of the order, displacing Felix Rosenqvist, who had been leading when the red flags were brought out. Vergne held onto P1 until the chequered flag, when di Grassi set his quickest time of the session on his final lap.

The Audi driver’s 1m00.881s put him nearly two tenths of a second ahead of Vergne.

Mitch Evans, Daniel Abt, Oliver Turvey, and Sam Bird all found improvements in the closing stages of the session. Evans finished third, ahead of Rosenqvist, Abt, Turvey, and Bird.

Piquet was knocked down to eighth overall, with Sebastien Buemi and Andre Lotterer completing the top 10.
