Force India unveils the VJM11 at Barcelona

Force India has unveiled its new Formula 1 car, the VJM11, in the pitlane at the Circuit de Catalunya prior to the opening day of pre-season testing.

The new car features a pink livery similar to the design of its predecessor with the colour being part of the sponsorship deal with water treatment company BWT, first signed last season.

It is still unclear whether Force India will keep its current name ahead of the new season. The Force India name does not currently feature on the car’s livery or the driver’s race suits.

The team enters its 11th season in F1 looking to build upon a record-breaking 2017, in which it finished fourth in the constructors’ championship with its highest ever points tally.

Drivers Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon have been retained, despite a bitter intra-team rivalry last season which resulted in the two colliding in Azerbaijan, Hungary and Belgium.

The VJM11 will be driven by the team’s development driver Nikita Mazepin on the opening day of testing on Monday. Ocon and Perez are scheduled to drive on Tuesday and Wednesday while newly recruited reserve driver Nicholas Latifi will be in the car on Thursday.
