BMW factory driver Tom Blomqvist will race alongside Antonio Felix Da Costa at Andretti Autosport for the 2017-18 season.
Having spent the last three years racing in DTM, Blomqvist will make his FE race debut in Hong Kong next month. The 23-year-old tested Andretti’s ATEC-04 during preseason testing, sharing duties with fellow BMW driver Alexander Sims, who has a development role within the team.
He last raced in single seaters in 2014, when he came runner up to Esteban Ocon in the European Formula 3 championship. He then moved to DTM with BMW, with a best championship finish of sixth in 2016.
BMW is yet to announce it’s 2018 DTM driver line up, but it’s understood Blomqvist could run a duel campaign. It means Sims could get a chance to make his FE debut if Blomqvist is unable to take part in an event due to DTM commitments.
His best time during preseason testing was a 1m23.195s on the second day of testing.
