# Verstappen brands Mexico win one of his ‘easiest’ races

Max Verstappen has claimed that victory in the Mexico Grand Prix came courtesy of one of the ‘easiest’ races of his career.

Verstappen lined up second on the grid alongside title contender Sebastian Vettel. After boldly passing the Ferrari on the outside of Turn 1, Verstappen grabbed a lead which he did not relinquish throughout the entire race.

Valtteri Bottas, who finished second for Mercedes, ended the race nearly 20 seconds adrift of the winner.

Verstappen described his third Formula 1 race victory as one of the ‘easiest’ races of his career.

“I was confident that the car was going to be good because just looking at the long run pace, it was very easy for us to do quick lap times,” Verstappen stated.

“We just had to make sure that the balance of the car was correct to be able to sustain that.

“The start itself was not great. I was very high in the limiter – I don’t know why. But then, it was actually perfect because I got a good tow on Sebastian and managed to get around the outside of Turn 1.

“From then on, I was just doing my own race to be honest and this one actually one of the easiest races of my whole career.”

Verstappen has been the form driver in October. Victory in Mexico marks his second win in four races to be held in the calendar month. He has scored 80 points from a possible 100 in the period.

“We are definitely in a good way,” Verstappen added when assessing Red Bull’s recent resurgence in form. “We just have to make sure we keep working like this and that we have a better start to next season because then I am sure we can achieve great things.”
