# No change of approach for Dovizioso

MotoGP championship leader Andrea Dovizioso says his approach in the remaining six races will not change despite the absence of one of his main title rivals.

Dovizioso took a nine-point lead in the standings with victory at the British Grand Prix, and comes into his second home race of the year at Misano with the most wins of any rider in 2017 with four.

Last week, fourth-placed Valentino Rossi suffered a fractured right leg in an enduro accident in Italy and has been ruled out of this weekend’s 13th round of the championship, while likely missing the Aragon race too.

Though facing one less challenger, Dovizioso feels the unpredictability of the 2017 season means settling for positions when more is on offer is still not an option.

“It (my approach) will not change because we are still a lot of riders fighting for the championship,” he said.

“Like I say, still remains six races, anything can happen. There are still a lot of points and everybody have to take the maximum every race.

“This championship (it) is important to not make a zero, but when you can win the race – like happen with me in the last two races – you have to get it, because sometimes happen you are not competitive and you can lose a lot of points.

“Still I think nobody are thinking too much about strategy.”

**Lorenzo won’t move over for Dovizioso**

Dovizioso‘s team-mate admits he will not move aside in Sunday’s San Marino Grand Prix for the Italian regardless of what position the pair are fighting for.

The Spaniard has made big strides in adapting to the Desmosedici in recent races, securing his second front row start of the season in Austria and finishing just over three seconds adrift of Silverstone race winner Dovizioso in fifth two weeks ago.

Feeling as if a maiden Ducati win is close, Lorenzo has not entertained the idea of aiding his team-mate just yet.

“So now that I feel better than ever on the bike, now that the bike seems more complete than ever, why can’t we fight for the podium or even the victory in Misano?,” he said.

“I think it’s still too soon in the championship to be thinking about that (helping Dovizioso), even for a fourth or fifth position.”

While potentially detrimental to his championship aspirations, Dovizioso does not feel Lorenzo has any obligation to help the Italian in his bid for a first premier class crown at the moment.

“I completely agree (with his position),” Dovizioso said in the pre-event press conference at Misano.

“There’s still six races, and everybody have to make their own race.

“For sure he has to try to win the race, it’s his goal and it’s normal like this.”
