Yamaha MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi has been discharged from hospital in Italy following surgery on a fractured leg sustained in an enduro crash last week.
The nine–times world champion suffered a displaced fracture of the tibia and fibula of his right leg in a crash on Thursday night.

The Italian was transferred to a local hospital where his injury was assessed, before he was transferred to the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Ospedli Riuniti for surgery in the early hours of Friday morning.
The operation proved a success. Rossi was discharged from hospital at 10:00am local time on Saturday and has vowed to begin rehabilitation ‘as soon as possible’.
“I spent a good night, I slept, and this morning I felt good,” he said.
“The doctors visited me and they gave me the OK to go home, where I’ll be able to rest even better.
“I will begin the rehabilitation as soon as possible and we’ll see how my body reacts before making any decisions.
“I have to say thanks once again to all the staff of the Ospedali Riuniti in Ancona, but also Urbino’s First Aid and the 118 Service, as well as all the friends that came to visit me.
“As I said yesterday, I will do everything I can to get back as soon as possible.”
During a press conference on Friday, Dr Raffaele Pascarella said Rossi would need at least 30-40 days recovery before entertaining the idea of a return to racing.
This will rule him out of his home race at Misano next weekend and the Aragon Grand Prix a fortnight later.
Rossi is currently 26 points adrift of championship leader Andrea Dovizioso in fourth in the standings.
