Maverick Vinales has taken pole position for tomorrow’s Italian GP at the Mugello circuit.
Vinales continued his blistering start to 2017, ousting local favourite Valentino Rossi to take yet another pole position for the Movistar Yamaha team.
Rossi would have to settle for second. However, the Italian has always been better in the race. Rossi will have the backing of his home crowd tomorrow, as he looks to win at Mugello for the first time since 2008.

Rossi’s fellow countryman Andrea Dovizioso will join him on the front row of the grid in third. Michelle Pirro will head up the second row, in an impressive performance for the Ducati test rider. Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez will also line up alongside Pirro tomorrow, from fifth and sixth respectively.
Jorge Lorenzo heads up row three, with fellow Ducati rider’s Alvaro Bautista and Danilo Petrucci joining the Spaniard. Tito Rabat had his best qualifying performance of the year so far by ending the session in tenth. This will give the Marc VDS rider a whole load of confidence after a terrible start to the season. Johann Zarco and Aleix Espargaro will join him on the fourth row of the grid.
It is set to be another exciting race tomorrow. The action gets underway at 13:00 BST.
