Top FIA championships will work together to avoid calendar clashes in the future.
Racing in multiple series has become harder and harder in recent years. Clashes have meant drivers have been unable to take part in events, and stopped one off appearances like Nico Hulkenberg’s Le Mans outing.
Organisers of Formula One, Formula E, and the World Endurance Championship met with Jean Todt in Monaco to discuss calendars and how the problem can be solved. They agreed to work together to avoid clashes in the future.

“It is important that everyone in our championships works towards ensuring that fans have every opportunity to enjoy our championships to the full,” Todt said in a statement.
“Today, in collaboration with our partners, we have begun the process of harmonising our sporting calendars and I look forward to continuing this effort as we define our championship schedules for next season and beyond.”
Clashes have become a big issue in FE and WEC this season. Many FE drivers compete in both series, and will have to choose between the New York ePrix and the 6 Hours of Nurburgring.
“It’s puts a lot of drivers in difficult positions,” Sam Bird told Read Motorsport. “I don’t see that there should be any reason for a clash.”
Though the clash is still set to take place, it’s good news for the future, and drivers that want to follow Fernando Alonso’s attempt at the Triple Crown.
