Stoffel Vandoorne has received a three place grid penalty for the race ending collision with Felipe Massa.
The McLaren driver was defending his position as Massa attempted a move up the inside at turn 1. The pair made contact and Vandoorne was sent into the gravel, damaging his suspension and ending his race.
The grid penalty, which will be served at the Monaco Grand Prix, will be Vandoorne’s third of the season. The Belgian started the Spanish and Russian races from the back of the grid after 10 place drops for engine changes.
Vandoorne also received a two penalty points on his licence.
Massa managed to get away without damage. The Brazilian was already recovering from a puncture after colliding with Fernando Alonso. He finished the race 13th.
