# Stoner to resume testing duties after the French Grand Prix

Casey Stoner will resume his testing duties for Ducati at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya two days after the French Grand Prix on May 21.

The Australian sensationally rejoined the Italian marque, with whom he won the 2007 MotoGP World Championship, prior to the 2016 season as its test rider and brand ambassador.

Stoner has since made several appearances aboard the Desmosedici, most recently at the Sepang pre-season test in February [where he topped the timesheets on the opening day.](https://readmotorsport.com/2017/01/30/stoner-heads-day-one-sepang-test/)

Ducati have two tests coming up between now and the race at Le Mans, with Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo using up one of their allocated five days of private running at Mugello on Monday 15. Ducati’s main test rider Michele Pirro will run for three days that week at the Italian circuit.

After the French Grand Prix, the team will head to Barcelona for two more days of testing on May 23-24, where Dovizioso and Lorenzo will join Stoner out on track.

With both contracted riders using up three days of their allocation over the next week, both will have just one left for the rest of the year having used up one last month for a day running at Jerez.

On the subject of testing, the entire MotoGP grid was in attendance for a day of running at Jerez, with Yamaha’s Maverick Vinales leading the way by just 0.002s from Honda’s Marc Marquez on a 1m38.635s. Spanish Grand Prix race winner Dani Pedrosa completed the top three.

Fresh from a maiden Ducati podium, Lorenzo completed 50 laps on Monday and was sixth quickest, team-mate Dovizioso just under a tenth up the road in fifth spot.
