# Pedrosa looking forward to ‘taking another step forward in Jerez’

After a confidence-boosting United States Grand Prix last time out, Honda’s Dani Pedrosa says he is looking forward to taking another step in the right direction in improving his RC213V this weekend at Jerez.

Pedrosa endured a tricky first couple of rounds. Front grip issues in Qatar left him out of the podium battle in fifth, whilst a crash at Turn 2 spoiled his Argentine Grand Prix.

Last time out in Texas, Pedrosa was able to utilise his less aggressive braking style and his small size to run the medium front tyre, giving him a grip advantage which allowed him to fight hard with team-mate Marc Marquez and eventually finish on the podium in third for the first time since Misano 2016.

The Spanish rider feels he and Honda made a big step with bike set-up at the Circuit of the Americas, and hopes this form will carry over into his home round.

“Jerez is a track that I like a lot,” said Pedrosa.

“It has a bit of everything: tight corners, fast corners, changes of direction, some ‘wheelie areas.’ One of my best memories there is when I made my debut in MotoGP and finish on the podium.

“I hope to keep the momentum from Austin and to continue the progress, improving out bike set-up more, especially in maintaining a fast rhythm and faster lap time.”

Pedrosa has always gone well at Jerez. The Spaniard has taken to the top of the podium on three occasions, once in the 250cc class in 2003 and twice in MotoGP in 2008 and 2013. On top of that, he has scored a further seven podiums and claimed pole position three times.

Not only is he looking forward to putting on a good show for his home support, after Austin Pedrosa comes into this weekend clear on which path to take in terms of improving the overall Honda package.

“Now we know more about the bike, what we need to improve, and what changes we have to make on the set-up, so we definitely look forward to taking another step in Jerez.

“My fan club will be there and we want to have another good weekend in front of them and all of our fans.”
