# Sofuoglu ends Friday’s running on top

Puccetti Kawasaki rider Kenan Sofuoglu topped the combined timesheets at the end of Friday’s Supersport running after the Turk pipped PJ Jacobsen in FP2.

Sofuoglu comes into this weekend’s fourth round of the championship yet to score points, after he was taken out of his comeback race in Aragon two weeks ago. Keen to set this straight, the reigning world champion has been on top form all day.

Missing out on top spot by just 0.013s to Jacobsen in the first session this morning, Sofuoglu returned the favour in FP2, edging the MV Agusta rider by 0.172s with a 1m38.950s.

Jacobsen was unable to improve on his FP1 best but remains second overall, whilst the GRT Yamaha duo of Federico Caricasulo and Lucas Mahias swapped positions right at the end in third and fourth respectively.

Lorini Honda’s Kyle Smith jumped up the order to fifth in the closing stages, with countryman Gino Rea utilising a tow from Sofuoglu to go sixth quickest. Jules Cluzel headed Kyle Ryde, whilst Sheridan Morais and Michael Canducci completed the top 10.

Luke Stapleford was denied direct passage into Superpole two by just a few hundredths of a second at the chequered flag, as were Phillip Island race winner Roberto Rolfo and the second Kallio Yamaha of Niki Tuuli.

Rob Hartog was the top European Supersport runner in an impressive 14th, with Christian Gamarino relegated to 15th after the flag for exceeding track limits on his final timed lap. ![](https://media.readmotorsport.com/readmotorsport/2017/04/2017-04-28-3-904x508.png)
