Suzuki have announced that test rider Takuya Tsuda as the replacement for Alex Rins for the Spanish GP at Jerez.
Rins suffered a broken wrist during FP3 at Austin. This will see the Spaniard miss the race at Jerez and the following test.
Tsuda has been involved with Suzuki’s test programme since the manufacturer returned to the championship in 2015. He rode at the Valencia test last year, and also at the Sepang test.

Outside of MotoGP, Tsuda is involved in the Japanese Superbike Championship. The Japanese rider finished as runner-up last season. He also managed to get pole for Suzuki in the 2014 Suzuka 8h race, an event he has frequently run at.
Rins has returned home to Spain but has yet to undergo surgery. He is expected to miss the first few European rounds of the season, as the recovery time for a broken wrist is six to eight weeks.
It is as of yet unknown whether Tsuda will continue to deputise after Jerez or whether Suzuki will draft someone else in to replace the injured Rins.
