Manor Racing’s assets to go on sale next month

Assets of the Manor Racing Formula 1 team will go on sale next month after efforts to rescue the team succumbed to failure earlier this year.

Just Racing Services, the parent company that held the Manor F1 entry, had ceased trading after attempts of a buyout failed to materialise. Administrators have since chosen to pay the remaining creditors by selling off the team’s assets.

Steering wheels, wind tunnel models, pop-up trailers and pit equipment are among the thousands of items that will be on available over a four-day period through the auctioneers firm, Gordon Brothers.

On May 16, the bidding will end, but further items such as sidepods, wheel rims and wings will be made available in the coming days on its auction site.

After Sauber’s Felipe Nasr managed to secure ninth place in the penultimate round of the 2016 season, this left Manor in eleventh place in the constructors’ championship and unable to secure adequate funding to keep the business afloat due to the small amount of prize money handed out.

It is reported that up to 50 different companies had an interest in buying the team, but none failed to satisfy the administrators that solvency would be achieved.

Unfortunately, after no investors had been found and with no funding left, 150 employees were subsequently made redundant and wages were not paid for February.

It was thought that a late rescue attempt was possible in early March, but again it had failed to go through and the FIA was contacted to be told the F1 entry would be retracted.
