The second free practice session ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix was called off due to weather conditions.
Like the first session of the day, smog in Shanghai meant the air ambulance wasn’t able to land at the local hospital. Running was not allowed as it would take over an hour to transport a driver or marshal to hospital by road, a delay which could cost lives in the case of a serious incident.
The session start was delayed for more than an hour before it was decided to just cancel the session.
