Suzuki’s Alex Rins has been passed fit to ride in this weekend’s Argentine Grand Prix after fracturing his ankle in a training crash last week.
The Spaniard made his MotoGP debut last time out in Qatar. Despite qualifying down in 18th, Rins put in a brilliant performance to carve his way through the field and finish as top rookie in ninth.

After the incredible high of his maiden premier class outing, Rins was brought back down to earth when he fell from his motocross bike at home in Spain just a week later. He suffered a partial fracture to his right talus.
Though cleared to ride, Rins will undergo constant physiotherapy treatment and observation on his foot from MotoGP’s medical team this weekend.
“I had this injury while training last week,” said Rins.
“It’s not a bad injury, but will require some time to recover. I really hope it won’t bother me too much with the pain, as I’m excited to continue learning in this class with my Suzuki.”
The Termas de Rio Hondo circuit has been a fairly happy hunting ground for Rins over the years. He took to the second step of the podium in just his second Moto2 outing in 2015, and managed a fourth place finish last season.

The 2.9-mile Argentinian track is also one that suits the GSX-RR. The Japanese manufacturer started from the front row two years ago, and was in contention for a first podium since 2008 12 months ago before Maverick Vinales slid off.
Rins comes into this weekend with his feet firmly on the ground, but is looking forward to reliving all of the sensations of the Qatar weekend at a track he is rather fond of.
“My first race in Qatar had been a very exciting experience and honestly left me with the feeling that it all went too fast and was too short,” he added.
“I can’t wait to experience again all of the emotion of MotoGP. The Argentinian circuit is one I like. I believe I will really enjoy the acceleration with the GSX-RR and I’m expecting the straight to seem shorter compared to last year’s Moto2.”
